On May 1, 2025, the Maya Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory hosted a concert dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the birth of Maya Kuliyeva, Hero of Turkmenistan, People's Artist of Turkmenistan and the USSR.

There are destinies with fairy-tale transformations, and Maya Kuliyeva's destiny is one of them. In early childhood, she was orphaned and raised in an orphanage. It seemed that nothing could be sadder for the beginning of life. But then came her participation in amateur performances, where the girl's voice was noticed, and she was sent to study at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Maya Kuliyeva was among the first certified opera vocalists to return to Ashgabat. She lived a vibrant stage life, performing arias from famous foreign operas and participating in Turkmen opera productions. Practically until the end of her life, she served as a consultant for opera productions on the stage of the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater.

She was awarded the high title of Hero of Turkmenistan for her services to the Turkmen people. The Turkmen National Conservatory bears her name and houses a museum dedicated to Maya Kuliyeva.

On Maya Kuliyeva's birthday, students and teachers of the conservatory dedicated a concert to her. The program included works from the People's Artist's repertoire. The monitor displayed footage from Maya Kuliyeva's life and creative work.

Works by Nury Mukhatov "Gözler bilen," Veli Mukhatov "Söýgülim gelýär," Chary Nurymov "Zary bilen," and others were performed on the stage. The audience gave special attention to the performance of the song "Ashgabat" by Danatar Ovezov and excerpts from the opera "Shasenem and Garyp" by Danatar Ovezov and Adrian Shaposhnikov.

The concert concluded with Chary Nurymov's song "Toý aýdymy," performed by all vocalists of the concert program: People's Artists of Turkmenistan Gulnar Nuryeva and Atajan Berdiyev, Honored Artists of Turkmenistan Aina Seyitkuliyeva and Bibijemal Amanova, as well as Begench Moshiev, Begdurdy Cherkezov, Arzygul Gylyjova, and Amangeldi Amanov.

The concert was hosted by Bahar Yakubova, Head of the Department of Music History.
